Backyard of the house I moved into and lived in during this era

Banana Bread Rock, titled after the fact that a majority of these tunes were created around the same time everyone decided to start making banana bread during the pandemic. A lot of these tunes were some of the main demos that I was working on while living in a pandemic desert setting in Tucson, Arizona.

Many of these tunes existed as a way to try new ideas and experiment with new pedals. 'Metal Head' is a great example of a song I had written primarily just to try out the Earth Quaker Device's 'Data Corrupter'. Some of these were also made around 4am when I couldn't sleep so those are also gems.

I feel like this was a very particular time for me as a creator, I was extremely agitated with the state of the world and the things I wanted to accomplish. I was living in a pretty affordable home with two roommates. I was around 19-21 when a majority of these were created.

Natural Dilemma · Kleptomaniac

Kleptomaniac was probably one of my personal favorites. It is also one of the couple of tracks where i found that I have this affinity to sing in some weird version of perhaps a British accent?? I have no idea why.... This song is based around a silly scenario where we are just describing a particular kind of thief, where as the singer I am describing all the things that have been stealing from me.

You'll find that in many of these songs there is usually a particular kind of short chorus or verse section that I had written up while probably frying chicken or assembling sandwiches at a local restaurant.

I found myself building myself up and forwarding my music projects through these demos, this pandemic time was the beginning of my first serious music project titled They'us, a psychedelic punk rock trio consisting of my other two roommates on bass and guitar.

The name for that came about as the name of some kind of space lord name. A lot of folks just thought it was they and us combined but i think at the time i was really going for a kind of an Achilles or Zeus vibe. If you want to read more about They'us click here.

While working on They'us I still wanted to explore different ideas and thats where things like 'I wanna be in space!' and 'Goblin Bathing Simulator' came into play.

Natural Dilemma · Goblin Bathing Simulator

'GBS' was created at my parent's house in collaboration with one of my dear friends AKA Peanut Penpals/Vermin Medusa. Titled after it being envisioned as a group of cave explorers accidentally stumbling upon an entire goblin horde in a cave. It has the eerie sounds of exploring a cave and then the screech of being caught and running away from hundreds of goblins pouring out of the cave walls.

Natural Dilemma · I wanna be in space!

'I wanna be in space!' was made for a local diy space's song competition, which if i remember correctly was a pandemic prompt. Something along the lines of "Where would you rather be other than being stuck at home". I went the poetic route and wanted to create a fun pad synth washed environment expressing my desire to not even be on earth!

I employed the help of one of my previous roommates to play the synth lead part that plays during the chorus. This is actually one of my favorites to listen to every now and again purely because of Jamie's synth solo for the chorus, it is just so catch and she used the pitch wheel in just one chef's kiss move.

The pandemic was a very strange time, it birthed a lot of creativity for me and fueled me to break out into the open. But when the pandemic ended I felt empty, personal circumstances created a mental roadblock and issues where you'll notice that the post-pandemic demo sheet is half the size of these pandemic tunes.

Mostly in song length, there are more tracks but the amount of full songs are few and far between compared to the banana rock playlist. I was entering into my early 20s and didn't really care for the content of my music, all i wanted to do was create random songs to move my butt to.
